Oscoda Michigan welcomes visitors to one of Michigan’s finest vacation getaways. The town of Oscoda is located in northeast Michigan in Iosco County and adjoins the Huron National Forest. Hundreds of year-round outdoor activities abound here including swimming, fishing, canoeing, hiking, golf and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. A full one-third of Iosco County is in National Forest and scenic byways that run near historic monuments, antique stores, arts & crafts shops, picnic areas, and other interesting villages of the northeast Michigan region. When you come to rest and play in Oscoda along the shores of beautiful Lake Huron, you’ll need a place to stay. Oscoda has a multitude of lodging facilities - everything from cabins in the woods to condos on the lake to national hotel and motel chains. Most accommodations are either nestled along beautiful Lake Huron or have exceptional private beach access. Visitors can choose from spacious motel rooms and suites to the conveniences of kitchenettes in one, two or three bedroom cottages. For a special retreat, you’ll find some of Michigan’s best inns offering private beaches, in-room whirlpools and fireplaces and the most romantic and breathtaking sunrises. Beachside cottages and cabins are another option. The size of these cabins and cottages varies a great deal – accommodating anywhere from two – ten people. Most are furnished with linens, color cable TV, coffee makers; others come with fully equipped kitchens. Some locations run alongside the AuSable River and others offer panoramic views of the lake. All of Oscoda’s accommodations are close to shopping, restaurants, churches and recreation areas. The area has many local businesses, including grocery stores, bakeries and delis, and emergency facilities.

Within thirty minutes of Oscoda, you will also find a number of historic bed & breakfasts and country inns. Consider staying in an elegantly restored turn of the century mansion that sits amid four wooded acres, or a Victorian home that was a lumber baron’s gift to his wife and contains ornate woodworking, stained glass and carved fireplaces. There are also modern inns and bed & breakfasts in the Oscoda region, constructed specifically as a romantic retreat for couples. Enjoy fireplaces, in-room whirlpools and private outdoor hot tubs – all under the magnificent North Michigan starry skies.

If you prefer something a little more rustic, Oscoda also has several campgrounds. One park, operated by the Township of Oscoda, has both modern and primitive campsites. There are 500 marked sights and fully furnished three-bedroom cabins with a large public pavilion, bathhouses, and beach area and boat ramp. Another good campsite is located next to the Lumberman’s Monument Visitor Center within a red pine forest. It offers a more secluded sight in natural surroundings. Or, choose to pitch your tent only a few minutes to Lake Huron’s beaches, restaurants and the Au Sable River, in campgrounds that offer a playground, a large rec center with video arcades and snacks and bike rentals.
